NDA/NA I & II Examination 2023: Latest Update
The NDA I Notification 2023 was released on 21 December 2022 on the official website. The written exam was conducted on 16 April 2023. NDA is a national-level entrance examination conducted by UPSC twice a year to recruit eligible candidates for the Army, Navy, and Air Force wings of the National Defence Academy.
The NDA II Exam notification was released on 17 May 2023 on the official website. The written exam will be conducted on 03 September 2023. NDA is a national-level entrance examination conducted by UPSC twice a year to recruit eligible candidates for the Army, Navy, and Air Force wings of the National Defence Academy.

NDA/NA I & II Examination 2023: Overview
NDA Exam is conducted twice every year for selecting eligible candidates for the admission to Army, Navy and Air Force wings of NDA and Indian Naval Academy Courses (INAC). For the upcoming year, the NDA Exam will be conducted for the 151st Course and for the 113th Indian Naval Academy Course (INAC). The selection of eligible males & females will be done through written Examination and SSB interviews.

NDA/NA I & II 2023: Who Can Apply
Nationality/ Citizenship
A candidate must be an unmarried male and must be -
1. A Citizen of India or
2. A subject of Nepal or
3. A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka and East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire and Ethiopia or Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.
4. Provided that a candidate belonging to categories (2) and (3), above shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India.
Age limit:
Only unmarried male/female candidates born not earlier than 02nd July 2004 and not later than 1st July 2007 are eligible.
Education Qualification
a. For the Army Wing of the National Defence Academy -
12th Class pass of the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent examination conducted by a State Education Board or a University.
b. For Air Force and Naval Wings of National Defence Academy and for the 10+2 Cadet Entry Scheme at the Indian Naval Academy
12th Class pass with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics of the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent conducted by a State Education Board or a University.
Note:
Candidates studying in Class 11 are not eligible for appearing in NDA I & II.

NDA/NA I & II 2023: How Can Apply
Application Process:
The candidates have to fill out their application forms on the website of UPSC. The application process begins online. Applicants who meet the eligibility criteria can only fill out the application form. The application process involves several steps, such as registering, completing the application form, uploading the required documents, paying the fee, and final submission. Candidates only need to fill out the NDA application form with the correct details, otherwise, you are responsible for rejection.
The NDA application consists of 2 parts, Part I and Part II. Applicants must complete the application form within the given time limit before the link will be disabled.
1. Registration: Visit the official website of UPSC at upsc.gov.in.Click on “ONLINE APPLICATION FOR VARIOUS EXAMINATIONS OF UPSC”.: Click on “Click Here for PART I” and read the instructions carefully and click on “Yes”.
2. Filling up the NDA application form: Candidates need to fill in their personal, academic, and contact details in the NDA application form and note down system-generated application numbers. They also have to create a password that will be used for future logins. Below are the details that the candidates should fill in the application form.
Basic details: Here, candidates need to fill in the category, nationality, personal details, select exam centres, date of birth, gender, father's name or mother's name, address, etc.
Preferences: On page 1 fill in the details such as name, gender, date of birth, parents’ name, nationality, etc., and click on “continue”.
On page 2, select the options and mark them between 1 to 4 or mark ‘0’ if you do not want to give any preference. Those who are from Sainik/Military School or Son of JCO/NCO/Other Rank Officer must fill pages 3 & page 4.
3. Upload of Prescribed Documents & Images (Photographs and Scanned Signatures): upload photographs, signatures, and thumb impressions as per specification. Images that are not as per the prescribed specification shall not be considered and may lead to rejection of the application.
4. Choose your Test City Pay the Examination Fee: The application fee for the NDA Exam is Rs 100.SC and ST candidates are exempted from paying the application fees. The application fees can be paid online or by depositing the money in any branch of SBI Bank.
5. Print the Confirmation page: The last step is to take printouts of the confirmation page, after successful payment of NDA application fees.

NDA/NA I & II 2023: Scheme of Exam
The section-wise distribution of the number of questions and marks is indicated below:-

1. Examination will be held as an offline Pen & Paper based Test. Both sections will contain only Objective type Multiple Choice Questions.
2. Questions Paper will be Bilingual in nature i.e., questions will be available in English as well as in Hindi.
3. For each question for which a wrong answer has been given by the candidate, one-third (0.33) of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted as a penalty.
Note:- The examination for Mathematics & General Ability Test will be held separately. A break will be provided to the candidates between Paper I and Paper II

NDA/NA I & II 2023: Admission to Examination Centres
1. Candidates are advised to download their NDA admit cards and take a printout of the same. Candidates will have to show the printout of their admit cards at the allotted NDA exam centre along with the photo identity card.
2. In case the photograph is not visible or not available on the admit card, candidates are advised to carry two identical photographs.
3. No hard copy of the admit card has been issued by the examination authority. In case of any discrepancy, candidates should immediately email the examination authority.
4. As mentioned earlier, the NDA exam will be conducted in two shifts. It may be noted that entry into the exam hall will be closed 10 minutes before the scheduled commencement of the exam, 9.50 am for the forenoon session and 1.50 pm for the afternoon session.
5. No candidate will be allowed to enter the examination venue after the gate closes.
6. The details regarding NDA exam centres are mentioned on the admit card. Candidates are required for the exam at the centre allotted to them.
7. Candidates are advised to visit their exam centres at least one day in advance to avoid the last-minute hassle.
8. Candidates should reach the exam centre well in advance for verification of admit card, frisking, etc.
9. Candidates should note that they will not be allowed to appear at any other exam centre except the one mentioned on the admit card. If candidates appear at any other venue due to any reason, their candidature will be cancelled.
10. Candidates are not allowed to use mobile phones, pager or any other electronic equipment or programmable device or storage media such as pen drives, smartwatches, cameras, or Bluetooth devices. Candidates found carrying these items will not be allowed to appear in the exam and disciplinary action will be taken against them that including a ban from future examinations

4- Read the instructions carefully before downloading the admit card

The steps to check the NDA Results are given below.

2- NDA result opens on a new page in PDF form.
3- Candidates can search their roll numbers and names in the result PDF through Ctrl+F
4- If their roll numbers and names are in the result PDF, this means candidates have qualified the exam

NDA/NA I & II 2023: Mode of Selection
The first stage of the NDA selection process is a written exam and the second stage is an Interview round. It is also followed by a detailed medical examination, which the candidates must pass. Below, you will find all details regarding the different stages in the NDA selection:

Written Exam
According to the NDA selection process, the candidates will first have to appear for a written exam. It will be a three-hour, 900-mark objective test comprising of two sections - Mathematics and General Ability. Only the candidates who secure the minimum cut-off marks will be selected for the next stage of the recruitment process..
Document Verification
An essential component of the NDA selection process is document verification and submission. At the time of the interview, the selected candidates are required to bring their documents for verification.
a. Proof of education - 10th or 10+2 certificate.
b. Caste certificate for applicable candidates.
c. Proof of identity.
d. Proof of address.
SSB Interview
Stage 2 of the NDA selection process involves the interview conducted by the Services Selection Board (SSB) for all the candidates qualifying for NA and NDA posts. If you clear the written test, your interview call letter will reach you with all the details regarding the interview date, time, and venue.
Note:
a. That the final recruitment under the NDA selection process will be merit-based. The performance of candidates in the written test and interview will be considered for the same.
b. Candidates applying for the Air Force will have to qualify for the Pilot Aptitude Test (PAT) and Computerised Pilot Selection System (CPSS) in order to be considered for final selection.
c. The SSB interview process takes place over a duration of 4-5 days.
Medical Examination
Candidates who are shortlisted in the SSB interview round are recommended by the authorities for a detailed medical checkup. This is an integral part of the NDA selection process, for which the selected candidates have to appear at the Military Hospital. Here are some things you should know about the NDA medical test.
a. As a part of the NDA selection process, a medical examination will be conducted at the Military Hospital by a Board of Service Medical Officers.
b. The final selection of the candidate in the NDA will depend on whether they are declared fit for the medical examination.
c. For female candidates, a detailed gynaecological, obstetric, and menstrual history will be required in addition to the regular details.
After the candidates get through the NDA selection process, they are trained at the National Defence Academy under their respective branches (Army, Navy, or Air Force).
